Scrollable Frames with Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite

One of the many overlays that are available in the DPS workspace is the ability to add scrolling text or images within a frame. Initially, this process was very technical and overly-difficult for some to wrap their heads around. Finally, adding scrollable content to your digital publications is easier than ever and I’ll show you how it’s done.
*The below assumes that you have already created your folio and articles.

1.
Create a new document and set your intent to “digital publishing”. If you don’t have CS6, then set your document size to match that of your tablet device, ie: 1024x768px.

2.
Create a text frame and place some over set text inside. Type > Fill with placeholder text.

3.
Create a rectangle frame, which you want your scrolling text to fit inside.

4.
Select your text frame and cut it from the paste board. Edit > Cut.

5.
Select the rectangle frame and go to the Edit menu and select, “paste into.”

6.
Open the folio overlay/overlay creator and select “Scrollable Frames”

7.
Choose your intent and direction for your content.

8.
Preview your article with scrollable frames by selecting the “preview” button at the bottom of the folio overlay or folio builder panel.

Watch the video below for the final result.
