What if your favourite product, monumental invention or event of the 20th century had the power of the Internet to promote it? Would it have been even more popular as you know it today? What would social media’s role play on the success of those products or events as they developed?
In this project, our Web Design, Development & Maintenance students developed their skills in creating storyboards for an interactive web campaign. Students had 4 weeks (while learning new lessons daily) to research and plan out a One-Page scrolling website, using CSS transitions, jQuery/javascript to tell a story about a popular figure, product, event, toy, electronic device etc… prior to 1992. Students created an animated trailer using Flash, to promote their topic via social media, YouTube or Vimeo. This promotional video was also available on the main One-Page scroll website. In addition to the Flash trailer, students created two IAB standard banner ads to promote their topic using Adobe’s Edge Animate, as a Google Ad. The animated ads followed IAB regulations and were to be 15 seconds or less in duration. Finally, students created an Email blast for promoting their website/topic or for users who subscribed to or wanted additional information about the displayed topic. The email blast was either created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and used Php to deploy the email blast.
Take a look at some of the impressive work that our students presented today, below.
