User interface design is considered to be a key factor in the ease of use and success of a website, web application and mobile app. Typical industry techniques will be explored and constructed to aid in the understanding of the design process. Other topics will include, file format compatibility, usability, interactive elements and user experiences and expectations. Students will explore and engage in the practice of: responsive design, rapid-prototyping, wireframing, typography for the web, colour and interactive development.
Building web interfaces inevitably involves construction of engaging and usable elements on a page. Students will be shown how interface elements such as call-to-actions, icons and interactions can enhance a website’s overall experience.
Students will further develop their composition skills with a variety of tools and techniques to create engaging and user-friendly interfaces for multiple devices. This course will also instruct students on how to organize their digital files, utilize scripts for productivity and techniques for creating optimized graphics for various screen resolutions for mobile, retina display and tablet devices.
