*Feature Image: Nuit Blanche – By Cristina Teles
This year, my Graphic Design for Print & Web students created a general publicity poster for one of three available events that were taking place in the GTA this year. They were to be posted outdoors, in shop windows, construction hoardings, etc. – wherever their target audience may see it and be encouraged to participate and or attend the event. They had the choice between designing a poster for Wordcamp, Nuit Blanche or The Toronto Fringe Festival.
The students were to use their design and typesetting skills for this assignment, while exploring the use of page grids and modular relationships – with particular attention given to proportion, visual hierarchy, texture and tone. They also had to pay attention to the graphic qualities of characters, their form and structure. In addition, they applied contrasting typefaces and qualities of the typeface(s) chosen by means of size, weight, direction and colour.
Below are a few of the projects that were submitted but I will be posting more at a later time.
Toronto Fringe Festival – By Kailani Adams-Chute
Nuit Blanche – By Marisa Crandall
Wordcamp – By Diana Lewis
Toronto Fringe Festival – By Karen Grimes
